Case Studies : Victoria Street MSCP, St. Albans

Client: Linden Homes
Main Contractor: Expanded/Laing O'Rourke

Constructed in 2007/08, the new multi-storey car park serving St. Albans railway station, built by Laing O’Rourke, was constructed with in-situ concrete columns and post-tensioned floors. Ebor Concretes designed and developed precast parapet walls for the perimeter of the car park to act a permanent shutter to the floors and, using continuity reinforcement, to tie into the floor, act as a vehicle impact barrier.

In total Ebor Concretes supplied over 1200 linear metres of wall in an order worth around £300,000. Also included were 41 precast stair flights in what was a great example of successful hybrid construction.
