In 2010, Ebor Concretes supplied the precast concrete frame units to design and build contractor Composite Ltd, working in partnership with Kier Northern for a new multi-storey visitor car park at York Hospital.
The 465-space car park, for the York Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, was provided to improve visitor parking and open up a site for potential future development.
The ramped deck design provides an unrestricted interior by incorporating a single internal ramp and offered the required number of spaces within the available footprint of 87m x 48m.
The structural precast concrete frame for the two-storey car park comprised beams, columns and walls all manufactured at Ebor's Ripon factory. In addition, precast concrete spandrels formed the 550mm integral vehicular up-stand around the car park perimeter, removing the need for additional protection and maintenance.
